I just returned from another trip to Jamaica. It was amazing! Everyone asks me “Is Jamaica Safe?”
I have traveled around the island to all corners – except for the Kingston area. I believe this is common for most tourists as Kingston is the biggest city in Jamaica and although they are trying to reinvent themselves as a tourist area, it’s not that common for US tourists to stay there. Most people will stay in Negril, Montego Bay or Ocho Rios – it really depends on what you’re looking for in a vacation.
Most US tourists will stay in all-inclusive resorts in Jamaica.
I love all-inclusive resorts. They are a an easy vacation and a great value. For this trip, I stayed at the beautiful adults-only Hyatt Zilara.
All-inclusive resorts have security everywhere. There are secured gates to get into the property and then you will find security on the edges of the beach – so if you’re not a guest of the resort, you aren’t getting in. Plus, most of the resorts have security throughout the resort. I have never felt un-comfortable at any time I’ve been there. When traveling out of the resort, go with a trusted excursion company or transfer company. If you use common sense and travel with trusted transportation companies, you have nothing to worry about.
The People of Jamaica are warm and welcoming.
I love visiting with the locals when I’m in Jamaica. I’ve found that are very grateful to have tourists there as unemployment is very high, so tourism jobs are very much in demand.
Jamaica is awesome, it’s worth a visit.
Jamaica’s got beautiful beaches and lots of fun excursions
